Greetings everyone! We had so many people stay after our SQL Server on VMware sessions at VMworld USA to ask great questions, I thought I’d extend an offer to everyone at the European show coming up in a week! Let’s talk SQL Server! We are going to crash the VMvillage hang space on Tuesday, September 12 at 3pm local time to hold an open-ended SQL Server on VMware Q&A session. This unscripted and unofficial session is for you, has no official agenda, and marketing is strictly off-limits.

Our illustrious experts include:

Michael Corey, Founder – Corey and Associates

Thomas LaRock, Head Geek – Solarwinds

Argenis Fernandez, Principal Architect – Pure Storage

Niran Even Chen, Double VCDX, VMware Corp.

… and me!

Mark your calendars, and bring your questions, specific challenges, or discussion points, and let’s do this! Anything goes – performance, availability, setup and configuration, conflicts between best practices for SQL Server and VMware, anything!

To add to an already amazing year, recently I was named a VMware vExpert for 2017. I’m honored, humbled, and proud of my contributions to this amazing virtualization community. The vExpert list is up to 1505 this year, and it’s amazing to be part of this list of experts.

vExperts demonstrate significant contributions to the community and a willingness to share their expertise with others. Contributing is not always blogging or Twitter as there are public speakers, book authors, CloudCred task writing, script writers, VMUG leaders, VMTN community moderators and internal champions among this group.

As always, Corey Romero does a fantastic job of herding cats managing the vExpert program, and he and the rest of the VMware Social Media & Community Team do an incredible job with the vExpert program.

I look forward to continuing my work in the virtualization and cloud space, and look forward to seeing you all at VMworld this year!

VMW-LOGO-vEXPERT-2016-kWhat an amazing week! VMware has announced the full list of VMware vExperts for the first half of the 2016 cycle, and I’m honored to say that I have been recognized as a vExpert for the third year running.
I also want to announce that more folks than ever in the SQL Server community are vExperts!
  • Argenis Fernandez
  • Denny Cherry
  • Joey D’Antoni
  • Michael Corey
  • Thomas LaRock

I can speak for these fine folks in that we are all very grateful in the entire VMware team for awarding us as vExperts, and we look forward to continuing our work to share the knowledge about virtualized SQL Servers everywhere! Congrats to all of the vExperts, new and old alike!

vExpert-2015-BadgeVMware has announced the list of 2015 recipients of the vExpert award, and I am humbled and honored to have been selected to be part of this group for the third year in a row. This year the list has grown to 1,039 people!

The VMware vExpert community is quite strong and is a great example of how a community recognition program can be executed. Microsoft’s MVP program is also a great program to recognize community involvement, and I’m very proud to be an MVP as well.

Special thanks go to Corey Romero for all of his great work in managing this wild group of technologists!

If you are interested in applying to the program, the application for the second half of the year is open. If you know someone who you feel should be nominated for this award, recommend someone here.

Congrats to all of the new 2015 vExperts and to those who were renewed! I look forward to constantly keeping up with your fantastic contributions to the community.

Today VMware released the list of 754 people who are the proud recipients of the coveted vExpert award for 2014. I am proud to say that I have been awarded this great award for the second year in a row!

The VMware community is very strong, and I thank John Troyer (@jtroyer) and Corey Romero (@vCommunityGuy) for all of their ongoing efforts to herd cats within the vExpert community.

To check out the full list and congratulate the folks you know who made the cut, visit the vExpert directory here.

Thanks everyone in the VMware community, and keep up the great work!

WOW! I have not received the official confirmation yet, but last night John Troyer posted a new entry on the VMware blogs announcing the 2013 vExpert list, and I’m one of 579 on the list! My friend Tony Foster (b | l | t) noticed and shot me a quick email. I almost dropped my phone when I saw the email!

WOW! I cannot keep saying it!

The official release announcement is located here. I am located by name and by Twitter handle @kleegeek.

Thank you John Troyer, Corey Romero, and the VMware Social Media & Community Team for giving me this award! I don’t think you all know how much this means to me, and I really appreciate it. I do everything that I can to contribute to the technical communities through blogging and speaking opportunities, and it warms my heart to know that my contributions are valued.

What a fantastic summer this is shaping up to be!  I am speaking at the SQL PASS Summit in October, was just granted VMware vExpert for 2013, and the summer is not even over yet! Who know what else this summer will bring?
